Student Teaching and Early Field Experiences
The purpose of field based experiences is two-fold:
- to allow learning through the application of theoretical knowledge gained through coursework and
- to provide a learning environment in a clinical setting.
The benefits of field experiences are numerous. In addition to building relationships with the local educational community, field based experiences foster commitment to service learning through reciprocal commitment by the community and IUN. Field experiences also underscore the importance of being in a continual learning environment that includes K-12 teachers, administrators and other members of the school and community-learning environment.
